The Wicked Witch is back with some more tips! If you haven't checked out my past two posts, don't miss them! I've written one on pumpkin carving, and another on crafts. I think I may create a blog of my own once this little series thing is over.
This morning we will be focusing on spooky and sweet Halloween drinks. Enjoy!
Tip 001: Witches Brew Punch
1 package (3 oz) apricot gelatin
1/2 cup of sugar
2 cups of boiling water
5 1/2 cups of orange juice
3/4 cup of lemon juice
4 liters of 7-Up
In a large bowl, dissolve gelatin and sugar in boiling water.
Stir in juices.
Freeze in a 2 quart freezer container.
Remove from the freezer 2-3 hours before serving.
Scrape or mash the slush in the container.
Pour or scoop into a punchbowl.
Stir in 7-Up just before serving.
The punch should be slushy.
Tip 002: Black Halloween Punch
1 (.13 oz) envelope unsweetened grape soft drink mix
1 (.13 oz) envelope unsweetened orange soft drink mix
2 cups of white sugar
1 liter of ginger ale
To make a frozen hand, wash a disposable glove, fill with water, seal with a rubber band and freeze until hard.
Stir together grape soft drink mix, orange soft drink mix, sugar and water until solids are dissolved. Combine with chilled ginger ale just before serving. Dip the frozen hand briefly in warm water, then peel off the glove. Float the prepared hand in the punch bowl for a ghastly effect.
Tip 003: Boo Beverage
2 cups of orange juice
2 cups of milk
2 pints of orange sherbet
4 ripe bananas
2 cups of whipped topping
18 miniature chocolate chips
In four batches, process the orange juice, milk, sherbet and bananas in a blender until smooth.
Pour into glasses.
Cut a hole in the corner of a pastry or plastic bag; fill with whipped topping.
Pipe a ghost shape on top of each beverage.
Position chocolate chips for eyes.
Tip 004: Haunting Hot Chocolate
1 medium orange
3 cups of whole milk
2/3 cup of vanilla-flavored baking pieces or vanilla-flavored candy pieces
1/8 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon of vanilla
whipped cream (optional)
ground nutmeg (optional)
Remove peel of orange with vegetable peeler; set aside.
In a medium saucepan combine 1/4 cup of the milk, the vanilla-flavored baking pieces, orange peel, and nutmeg; whisk over low heat until baking pieces are melted.
Remove orange peel.
Whisk in remaining milk and heat through.
Remove from heat.
Stir in vanilla.
Serve warm in mugs.
Add a marshmallow ghost, dollop with whipped cream, and sprinkle with nutmeg, if desired. Makes five 6-ounce servings.
